This is the 12 year old Very Very Old Fitzgerald, distilled at Stitzel-Weller in 1958 and bottled in 1970. While under his management, 'Pappy' Van Winkle refused to bottle Old Fitzgerald at anything less than the domestic requirement of 100 proof seen here, set out by the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897. Although the board put pressure on Julian II to release the lighter strength Old Fitzgerald Prime Bourbon when he took over, Pappy's wishes were still respected with the continued release of Bottled in Bond age-statements.
