Scopa Siciliane Bianco is an organic wine blend of 70% Catarratto and 30% Grillo sourced from vineyards in Partinico, Palermo. It undergoes manual harvests, 36 hours of maceration on Catarratto, direct press for Grillo, stainless steel fermentation, and is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Light bodied but fresh and bright with hints of sea-spray on the tongue.
The Scopa winery is a collaboration between Sicilian wine growers and our friends at Coeur Wine Co. we were recently introduced to these wines that originate from Partinico, located in the Sicilian province of Palermo. Crafted from grapes grown in certified organic vineyards owned and cultivated by families at an elevation of 440 meters above sea level, these vineyards thrive on sandy and loamy soils, characteristic of the northern coast of Sicily, imparting a distinct freshness to the wines. Both wines are made from hand-harvested grapes and undergo spontaneous fermentation, features in both farming and winemaking that are typically rare to find at such an affordable price point. We found these wines to be a great addition to the shop, fun, easy drinking wines perfect for the warmer weather.
