Round Pond is a family-owned Napa Valley wine producer located in Rutherford. It is best known for producing top quality Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc from its estate vineyards. Round Pond's property is planted to 144 hectares (357 acres) of vines and includes the Red Barn Ranch, Hill’s, Round Pond, and MacDonnell Vineyards. The soils at these vineyards are composed of sandy and gravelly clay loam and planted primarily to multiple clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and small amounts of white and red Bordeaux blending varieties such as Sémillon and Cabernet Franc.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate offers a more serious profile, with pure cassis and dark fruits as well as a touch of minerality in its tobacco and scorched earth aromatics. Medium-bodied and concentrated, with ripe tannins and beautiful balance, it will evolve for 10-12+ years.

A blend of Round Pond's estate vineyards in Rutherford and Oakville, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is deep, layered and super-expressive. This delivers the goods big time. All the elements are so well balanced. The 2021 feels just a touch compact today, but hopefully, the mid-palate will flesh out in time. Even so, there's so much to admire here. The inclusion of fruit from M-Bar makes a meaningful difference in this cuvée.
