Rutherford Wine It is located south of St Helena and immediately north of Oakville, at the heart of the Napa Valley winegrowing area. It is named after Thomas Lewis Rutherford, who married Elizabeth Yount, granddaughter of Napa's pioneering vigneron George C. Yount (see Yountville). Cabernet Sauvignon wines usually demonstrate a handful of common character traits. The typical features include, a deep color, high tannin content and moderate acidity with aromas of black currant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood. The wines tend to range from medium-bodied to full-bodied.

The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Winston Hill Vineyards is a huge wine bursting with super-ripe dark fruit, licorice, minerals, tar and smoke. This is a rich, textured Cabernet Sauvignon. All of the elements fall beautifully into place in this seamless, polished beauty. This is a stunningly beautiful wine endowed with a superb, dazzling finish and fabulous overall balance. I loved it.
