KUJIRA Okinawa Whisky 5 years was made from 100% premium Indica rice. Matured in 1st filled White Oak casks and seated in subtropical climate at the southern end of Okinawa Japan for more than 5 years.
Coconut, oak shavings, toasted oak, and wood spices, with hints of vanilla, plum and cherry– it’s a rather muted nose, though. The palate shows baked apple, toffee, and mouth-drawing tannins with a hint of molasses, followed by peppercorn, fruit chews, overly extracted fruit teas, rose hip, berry jelly, and drying oak on the finish. It’s a pleasant enough composition and a good restorative, but lacks that moreish hook for repeat straight pours.
