The 2019 edition of the 8 year old cask strength bottling of Kilkerran from Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown.

This was the talk of the whisky festival circuit upon release, and was drawn from re-charred Oloroso sherry casks before bottling.

Nose - the aroma of lightly peated barley is apparent from the beginning with some green apple which is becoming a feature of Kilkerran malt whiskies. This whisky is like a dessert, rhubarb crumble, stewed rhubarb, vanilla and buttered shortbread.

Palate - there’s an earthiness and saltiness, exactly what you want to taste in a Campbeltown dram. This is combined with icing sugar and puff candy which gives a sweetness to the whisky, along with milk chocolate and walnut flavors.

Finish - the peat remains, along with a sootiness, pencil shavings and a licorice influenced maltiness
