This is an excellent example of mid-20th-century American bourbon production from a historically significant distillery. This Medallion Decanter bottling of I.W. Harper represents a specific era of production, distilled and aged at the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville under the stewardship of Schenley Distillers.
Isaac Wolfe Bernheim is the I.W part of I.W. Harper who created the brand. He and his brother was integral in creating and establishing a place for bourbon creation. This was of course in Louisville, Kentucky. The Bernheim distillery was created by the bothers in the 19th century before sady being moved onto the Schenley company. United distillers were the next owners and finally the Diageo giant are the current owners. This boubon was distilled in 1955 and bottled in 1960.
