The Macallan Cask Strength was introduced to the USA in 2002 to appeal to both current Macallan drinkers and lovers of cask-strength whisky. Later, other markets including Japan were scheduled.
Macallan Distiller, Bob Dalgarno and his team of nosers labored long and hard to select the right balance of first and second-fill sherry oak casks from Spain that when combined created a Macallan of tremendous strength, power and complexity. Conscious that whisky at a natural cask strength of almost 60% abv can be overly pungent Bob has managed to balance the obviously high alcohol with classic clove-like spices and dried fruits.

 This one weighs in at 59% Alc./Vol. The deep ruby-red color is quite spectacular. Red Mahogany. Dried fruits, with chocolate, orange, vanilla and wood spice Rich and smooth, with fruit cake, vanilla and a hint of wood smoke. Full and lingering, with dried fruits and spice"
