Chateau Brane-Cantenac Margaux 1961
Neal Martin, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate: "...nose distinctly leathery with a touch of moist earth and cloves. A little muffled, especially compared to the aromatic clarity of the Lascombes 1961. The palate is subtle, quite fresh with vibrant acidity, although note quite as focused as I would have hoped. Touches of green pepper lead to a savoury, slightly meaty finish. A little brusque and rustic." (6/2007) and "It has a mature hue. The nose is utterly compelling with black fruits, Earl Grey, peppermint and violets with wonderful delineation and lift. The palate is divine: succinct balance and poise, touches of tea leaf and bay leaf inflecting the finish that has great depth and such fine tannins that blind, I would suspect this to be Château Margaux. " (4/2010)
