Braida Bricco della Bigotta Barbera d'Asti 2016

Braida Bricco della Bigotta Barbera d'Asti 2016

Braida Bricco della Bigotta Barbera d'Asti 2016

The Bricco della Bigotta Barbera d'Asti from Braida takes its name from the Bigotta vineyard in Rocchetta Tanaro.

This single-varietal wine shines in the glass in a deep ruby red with violet highlights. Aromas of ripe plums and floral notes of violets caress the nose. There are also spicy aromas of licorice and vanilla. The palate presents a wonderful interplay of fruity richness and spicy notes. The character is perfectly balanced, but also shows power and intensity. The long finish is carried by plummy nuances.

Thirty-five years ago, Giacomo Bologna led a movement to elevate the Barbera grape from an everyday table wine to a noble wine, reducing yields in the vineyards, harvesting grapes later than his neighbours and aging his wine in French barriques. The results were met with mixed reviews. His persistence and dedication to his vision eventually paid off with Braida earning a reputation for world-class wines. Thanks to Giacomo, the Barbera grape is now known as one of Italy’s top grapes.

The Braida operation is a family affair that places great importance on environment, tradition, and passion resulting in wines that impart big emotions.
